Yesterday marked the third anniversary of Kelly Joe Phelps’ passing, and today’s post closes my little three song tri-bute. It’s hard to properly express (verbally, anyway) the impact this man’s art has had on my musical worldview, but here, however clumsily, I offer my gratitude.
Performing this song well has been my Everest for a while now. I’m not there yet, but this is the best I had in me three years and a day since we lost him. RIP Kelly Joe.
